Addelyn Starts Dance Class

This week Addelyn started dance class. Since she's known for her shy nature, I was worried that she wouldn't leave my side and I'd have to participate in ballet class too. So we've been trying to mentally/emotionally prepare her. She's been walking around for a week saying, "I won't cry when I go to dance class, I get to wear my leotard."  She's been so excited and anxious to go, even I couldn't wait for the day she actually got to try it out. She was ready in her leotard, tights, and ballet slippers by 9:30 and we had to detour to the library to return some books so she wouldn't go stir crazy at home.

So what do you think, did she do well or have a meltdown?

She was great! She walked right in and made new little friends and danced away. The teacher did a fantastic job and kept them moving the entire time and each little activity had a new prop so Addie loved that. There are several big windows looking into the studio from the lobby so Savannah and I had a good time watching (although I did most the watching and Savannah did a lot of exploring).

I think dance will be a great way for Addie to practice making friends, practice listening and following instructions from a teacher, and of course dance her little heart out.
