Introducing Addelyn May Farnsworth

Alright. We have a new addition to our family. She is so beautiful. Addelyn May Farnsworth was born on May 14, 2009. She weighed 8 lbs. 2 oz. and was 22 inches long. She is doing great and sure loves to sleep.

We checked into the hospital yesterday morning at 5am. And Crissi started receiving the pitosin at 6am. Dr. Judd came in around 8:15am and broke her water (the nurse said she hadn't seen that much water in a long time, it just kept coming and coming). And around 8:55am, after a few painful contractions, Crissi decided to get the epidural put in. (She was waiting until she started feeling pain). Unfortunately she had to take several doses of the epidural for it to catch up before it was fully dilated... We learned that next time we will get the epidural right away so that it stays ahead of the dilating contractions. The other thing we learned is that it can work on one side and not the other, but luckily that was corrected and we saw the beauty of the epidural during the two hours of rest and descend.

After the epidural was doing its job, the Dr. then had us do 2 hours of rest and descend. (The baby would drop while the epidural is in, so the pushing part won't have to take as long.)

Then at 12pm, four women were all ready to give birth, and Dr. Judd suggested we go out into the hallway and form a circle and he could deliver the babies like they do in Mexico. But, he has joking, and we were chosen first, since we were fully dilated first. And so 6 hours and 9 minutes after the pitosin was put in, Crissi gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.

All was going well for about 30 minutes, until Crissi started hemmoriging and losing lots of blood. They laid her down and immediately started giving her medications. And later that day she received three units of a blood transfusion. It was rough before the blood transfusion because her body was in shock, shaking, and couldn't walk. After the transfusion, she was doing a lot better.

During the night, we had sleep in the nursery and have the nurses bring her to Crissi when she got hungry. Both of us slept well, and got plenty of rest for the next adventure the next day.

Now this morning, she is doing great. Her color is back, and the baby keeps demanding more food, and is accepting it.
